Our general aim is to understand the functioning of the immune system in veterinary species with the aim to develop better vaccines, novel immunotherapies, as well as to understand the mechanisms of how pathogens induce disease. Our research is focusing on antigen presenting cells including dendritic cells, macrophages and B cells, and employs systems immunology-based tools and concepts to study immune responses.
A different line of investigations is directed towards understanding transmission and species tropism of zoonotic arthropod-borne flaviviruses.
